UBC Opera Ensemble 2014–2015 Season Announced

UBC Opera Ensemble is proud to announce its upcoming 2014–2015 season.

Our first production will be Bedřich Smetana’s charming The Bartered Bride (Prodaná nevěsta), with performances in the Old Auditorium November 13, 14, 15 at 7:30 pm; and November 16 at 2:00 pm. Nancy Hermiston will direct, with Norbert Baxa conducting members of the Vancouver Opera Orchestra.

Our second production is Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s loved opera The Marriage of Figaro (Le Nozze di Figaro), with performances in the Chan Centre for the Performing Arts February 5, 6, 7 at 7:30 pm; and February 8 at 2:00 pm. Nancy Hermiston will direct, with Neil Varon conducting the UBC Symphony Orchestra.

Our closing production will be Giuseppe Verdi’s La Traviata, performed in the Old Auditorium June 20, 25, 26, 27 at 7:30 pm; and June 21 and 28 at 2:00 pm. Nancy Hermiston will direct, with David Agler conducting members of the Vancouver Opera Orchestra.

One additional add‐on to our three‐opera season will be the World Premiere of Stephen Chatman’s one act comic opera Choir Practice, with two performances – May 8 and 9 at 7:30 pm – in the Old Auditorium. Nancy Hermiston will direct with Jonathan Girard conducting.
