The UBC Opera Ensemble, on tour in the Czech Republic, will open its production of Smetana’s The Bartered Bride on Thursday, July 17. Canadian students and mayor Kubera as opera stars:

The famous opera “The Bartered Bride” in which students from the University of British Columbia in Vancouver taking part in the seventh annual European Musical Academy will appear, will cumulate this year’s celebration of 90 years since the opening of the Teplice Theatre. Besides the Canadian students, the public can look forward to the appearance of the Mayor of Teplice, Jaroslav Kubera, who will portray the part of “Principal”. These days the actors are putting finishing touches on the performance. “The Bartered Bride” will have its opening performance in the Teplice Theatre on the 17th of July.  The next performances are on July 22. and 24.

Laura Widgett and Matt Chittick will be seen in the parts of Mařenka and Jeník.
